A unique Paleolithic sanctuary in the world

850 m from the Moulin de la Beune
Located in Les Eyzies-de-Tayac (about 1 km from the Moulin de la Beune), the Font-de-Gaume cave is one of the most beautiful Palaeolithic shrines in the world, the only one with polychrome paintings still open to the public .
It is accessible by a path that runs along four hundred meters high cornice overlooking a dry valley.
It houses more than two hundred painted or engraved figurations of bison, horses, mammoths and reindeer, stylized human figurations, etc., organized in composition (frieze), or even in scenes (reindeer faced).
Artistic testimonies generally related to the Magdalenian period (around 15 000 BC).
